I would like to thank all the members of The Garden Club of Indiana for electing me state president. This is one of the greatest honors I hope to receive. Especially do I appreciate the support from my friends and fellow gardening enthusiasts.

I must acknowledge the inspiration of Dottie Trinkle. She was the first to set me on this track by naming me Chairman of Indoor Gardening. Little did I know that simple beginning would end in this golden moment. I would be remiss if I didn’t name Helen Merrill as another person who pushed me up along this way. I enjoyed four years learning about how Central District worked as her corresponding secretary. The lessons I learned under her schooling were of utmost importance. When asked to become Central District Director, I felt I was ready. Many good people came and went during those next four years. All had very special gifts to share, and I hope our paths will cross during the next two years.

Finally, one more person who has had a great influence on me is our outgoing president, Joyce Bulington. She has crossed and re-crossed the state of Indiana, building a network of clubs better off for having known her. She has set a great example for me.

I have many hopes and dreams for the future of this Garden Club of Indiana. I hope we can keep our activities relevant and continue to attract the next generation of gardeners. I also hope that our members will share my love of community service and conserving this wonderful place we call home.
