We gardeners start our day and most times enjoy our evenings in our personal playground.  The playground is a place to get exercise, enjoy solitude, share and discover exciting treasures with friends, exchange ideas and learn.  This playground is our garden.  In order to expand one’s knowledge about gardening and to share our enthusiasm with others we join Garden Clubs.   

None of us would be in garden club, if we were not invited by someone else.  Invite 10 and maybe 1 will visit.  If that one is Ellen Elliott, or a Helen Merrill----wow, look what has happened.  Talent, knowledge, willingness to share and educate have been added to this playground; our playground known as The Garden Club of Indiana, Inc.   

Explore more than the aisles of plants at the nursery department.  Seek out new members.  You know which person I am talking about; that person who fills up their cart with plant material.  Guess what?  They are trying to play with growing things in their playground.  Ask that person if they would be interested in meeting with others of like mind. Tell them where you meet, when you meet, and what you do.  Call them.   

Every club wants and needs new members.  Why?  Do we need the membership dues?  Although the input of finances is always welcome, this is not the reason to solicit new members.  Do we need more able backs to help carry the load, both physically and psychologically?  Of course we do.  However, it is my mindset that we need and want new membership so that we can continue forward with the objectives of this wonderful organization, expand our playground.  Members are needed to carry on.   

Our playground is part of an even larger program known as the National Garden Club.  Our membership is part of an organization spread all over the world and benefits so many vital areas.  With this thought in mind, I am offering to visit, call or correspond with any clubs or persons who are interested in pursuing this idea of enlarging this playground.
