One of the better reasons for joining a Garden Club is that by being part of a national organization you are part of a much larger whole. Joining this active organization gives you a great deal of leverage, power, resources and the wealth of knowledge and information that is essential to continue to grow. Growth in all ways is always less complicated and painful when you have a vast support system, whether in your personal life or in the life of a common interest group.
The National Garden Clubs, Inc is a not-for-profit educational organization with its headquarters in St. Louis, Missouri, United States. As part of its mission, NGC offers educational opportunities for members and non-members.
When you become a part of National Garden Clubs, Inc., you are part of a large group that is saving lands, water conservation and bringing many opportunities to your local communities.
Benefits you receive as a member are not always foreseeable. From a personal stand point, being affiliated brings with it many opportunities to meet with other gardeners from all over the state and nation, not just those from within your community, to share knowledge, exchange ideas, and trade plant materials. A member is entitled to a broad access of information and schooling.
The appeal of belonging to a national organization is that many opportunities are available to clubs or to individuals. Within a local club, you may only have one person interested in a study program, only 2 or 3 people interested in going to conventions, or maybe the entire group wants to work with Habitat for Humanity; but the joy is that you may pick and choose to participate at your choice, while paying your dues. Where else can you access these choices for only $10.00- $20.00 a year? That is less than $2.00 per month!!!
Last, but definitely not least, garden clubs present such a wonderful opportunity to be with people who share a common interest. This meeting of like-minded people often leads to lasting friendships and discoveries that may never have occurred. What a nice addition to our personal garden in life!
There is a place for you in a local garden club within your community.
