Scholarship

It is the time of the year when clubs around the state are making out checks to donate to various causes. Please remember our students and how much they appreciate the scholarships they receive.

When sending in checks please use the form that has been made available. If you do not have the form you can find it on the state website or contact: Judy, 765-664-4720, email: afornshell@indy.rr.com for information. I am looking forward to a full mailbox in the next several months.

Scholarships are awarded each year in the amount of $1,000.00 to deserving students who study Horticulture and Landscape Design at Purdue and Ball State Universities. A committee of TGCI members visits the schools in the spring and interviews prospective recipients of these scholarships. It is a wonderful two days of meeting students and learning more about them. If you ever have a chance to serve on this committee you would benefit greatly by doing so. If this isn’t the case you can always meet the students receiving scholarships at the Annual State Convention during the Scholarship Lunch. They are full of ideas, have aspirations, eager to learn, responsible and grateful young people who enjoy being with us on this day.
