Wildflower Workshop of 2008"
Speakers
The morning speakers are:
Mark O'Brien, Vice President of JF Nursery. He will be speaking on Native Plants in the Formal Landscape. Mark has done presentations at the Mid-America Horticultural Trade Show, The Green Expo, The Great Lakes Trade Expo, and the Michigan Wildflower Conference. Mark works with Indiana University of South Bend each spring to teach a class focused on native plants.
Wendy Langer is the second speaker and she will be speaking on Why Use Native Plants in your Landscape. Wendy is a Master Gardener, a member of the Nickel Plate Trail, Indiana Native Plant and Wildflower Society and Peru Garden Club President. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Health and a Master of Science in Industrial Hygiene.
After lunch:
Ronda DeCarie will be speaking on Folklore of Wetland Plants. Ronda has been the environmental education coordinator with the city of Elkhart environmental center over the past 12 years. Prior to that she worked with Woodlawn Nature Center, St. Joseph County Parks and more. She enjoys teaching others how they can relate to nature and ot learn to care about the environment around them.
Amal Farrough, a naturalist, will be our last speaker. Amal also works for the St. Joseph County Parks and she will be speaking on Cooking with Wildflowers.
Our Day will end with the raffle and a walking tour of the JF New Nursery and grounds. You will be able to buy plants also.
